Framed: Roger and Ruth Had So Much in Common

from $140.00
I was thinking that Roger Banks Pye and Ruth Bader Ginsberg...stay with me...how their initials were so similar....and then thinking about their unique contributions in their fields....and then, because I love to think about ways in which we are all alike, I realized that they actually had so much in common! Both worked for venerable institutions:Ruth the Supreme Court of the United States, and Roger for Colefax and Fowler: the oldest interior decorating firm in Great Britain. In their own way, both of them brought so much new beauty to the world. Ruth in her steady advocacy for civil rights, women's rights, and gender equality. And Roger in his steadfast refusal to see any material as too humble to be used in the hallowed halls of interior design. If he needed a unique window treatment, he frayed the edges of napkins and sewed them together to make a curtain. If he needed a unique floor covering, he painted a piece of canvas and put it on the floor. If he needed a plant /flowers in a room, he just brought in a rose bush, with its attendant messiness of dropped leaves and lively charm. Both RBG and RBP were about making people's lives better, more human, more comfortable.
