Who embodies the American story more than Ralph Lauren??? What did we "revolution" for if not for people to come here, imagine a world of their making, and be in a country where nothing, not class distinctions, education, family name...stands in the way of pursuing a dream? In America, Ralph could be unapologetic about his humble origins, his family surname (Lifshitz, just changed that sucker to 'Lauren'), his youthful lack of worldliness. He freely says that when he chose 'Polo' as a logo, he'd never SEEN polo. When asked to sell his early designs under a Dept. store name, he refused and kept to his name and his vision. He ended up writing the story of America in clothes!!! It's what we "revolutioned" for: so people could pursue their dreams!!!
