All of these blue and white ginger jars represent a whole lot of "ballast" to me. Ballast is that "heavy material placed low in a vessel to improve its stability". I love the fact that blue and white ginger jars (pre 19th century) were heavy and were used as ballast during shipping. I love this, because, hand-made objets d'art were the thing that kept the whole ship afloat!!! making beauty with my hands also keeps me afloat during tough times. What is the "ballast" in your life?
